Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show Opens

The Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show returns to ExCeL today, Friday 8 January 2010, to celebrate 56 years of bringing the best of boating to the nation’s capital.

The Show was officially opened at 11:00am by singers Stacey Solomon and Olly Murs. The talented pair recently charmed the nation and shot to fame through ITV 1's The X Factor. Today they proved their star quality whilst performing live before posing for a nautical photo call with members of the Royal Engineers.

Running from 8th - 17th January, the Show will feature hundreds of boats and with some 500 exhibitors showcasing power and sail boats, dinghies, engines, electronics, deck equipment, charter holidays, sailing courses and more, there's no better way to discover the thrills of getting on the water.

The Show will host over 80 new product launches, including 18 global debuts, from power and sail boats to engines and electronics, clothing and accessories to deck equipment and chandlery.

The Show Stage Powered by Fairline is the focal point of the Show's action and features an array of fascinating displays. Daily live performances of Rock the Boat, a blend of fashion and dance performed by the Brian Rogers Dancers is sure to capture the imagination of audiences all ages.

The country's favourite boating legends will also take to the stage to inspire with their experiences. Visitors can learn from Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie, Geoff Holt - the first quadriplegic to sail single handed around Britain, Mike Perham - the youngest person to sail single handed around the world, powerboat champions Shelley Jory and Steve Curtis and Hilary Lister - the first disabled woman to sail around Britain solo.

The Corps of Royal Engineers are making history at the Show by demonstrating their craft out on the water for the first time since the Show opened in 1954.
